Killers freed!
(breaking news) June 13, 2005
On August 13, 2004 another transgender person was found brutally murdered at the Franciscan Motel on Third Street in the Bay view/Hunters Point area in San Francisco. The victims name was Tony Green and also went by the name Delicious.

There are recent developments with this case.

Theresa Sparks San Francisco police commissioner says the San Francisco Police Department arrested two people for this crime, but they were released “due to lack of evidence.”

Tina D’Elia from Community Against Violence, which is a grass roots organization that reports hate crimes, says this is “another case of transgender bias.”

Tony Green/aka Delicious came from a large family and was always warm-hearted and giving and quick to correct those who used the wrong pronouns says Linda Porter who is the victims sister. Linda also indicated Tony knew she was transgender at an early age and was very open about her lifestyle, have grieved tremendously over the loss.

Commissioner Sparks admits few perpetrators of hate crimes are brought to justice, but the community must remain vigilant and work with all agencies involved. She remains hopeful.

Dina Boyer producer of Tranny Talk, which is a cable television show for, by and about transsexuals in San Francisco, says TG/TS people need to defend themselves, and believes the police departments are not able to help because they are unwilling to investigate the crime and seek out evidence. She believes more money and more time needs to be spent investigating.

Community Against Violence encourages anyone who identifies as transgender or transsexual and has experienced a hate crime to please report it. Their hotline number is 415 333-HELP, and the website address is www.cuav.org.
